ruby

the 2nd of july was a success -- i now own a red 1998 mustang.
the 3rd of july was a success -- movie, bbq, and wine on the lakefront.
the 4th of july was a success -- fireworks. nuff said.
the 5th of july was a success -- sunny walks, semper fi, and lots of food.

what a great start to a great month.

and even though i only have my memory of this past weekend, there is NO DOUBT i will take some awesome pictures of the next 3 weekends to come. anticipate!
get it!?

triumph then defeat

have you ever tried to put an AC window unit IN a window? did you know that at first, it appears impossible to the inexperienced ACer due to the fact that the window sill acts as a barrier the unit must somehow balance upon? it also results in sweaty anger and frustration.

this morning however, i tackled the Unit anew and secured that big ol' broad to the window and got her up and running.

triumph!

10 minutes later i blew a fuse in my apartment blow drying my hair.

i left my apartment with wet hair and no AC running.

defeat.

what up!

i have about 5 weeks left to my sublet, 4 of which will be sin roommate starting today. what's interesting is that only 2 things will really change: 1) things will remain clean after i clean them and 2) i'll be in my underwear 100% of the time. other than that, her absence will not really be felt. i'm just never home. life has kicked into overdrive and i'm lucky if i get to cook dinner for myself anymore.

my job has slammed me with presentations, meetings, reports, data collection, organization, responsibility and just about every other thing that was put-off earlier this year. life is a constant deadline and despite the 9+ hour days and the hunched strain from sitting at my computer for most of it, i'm pleased with my work and job.

i'm now playing frisbee 4 times a week too. somehow, i decided that even though i don't like commitment or practicing, it would be a good idea to try out for a club team. turns out, that even though i still dislike commitment and practice, i am enjoying the group of women that make up Spicy Tuna and feel like i'll be happy on this team. the remaining frisbee time is spent in cusl rec league where i get to run like the wind and crack jokes with friends and eat pizza and get mosquito bites. man, i'm going to get buff this summer.

i can't believe it's almost july because when i look at my schedule, it looks as though if i sneezed, i would miss it. concerts, fireworks, road trips to see and explore more caves, museums, camping trips, sandblast, tourneys, and my vacation to CA to see my uncle get married, visit my family, and get into trouble with sam....oh yea, and my birthday. again. i love july.

my highlander brother has been in touch and continues to brighten my days. we're in the midst of talking about post-corps and college and plans of that nature. i'll almost definitely apply to grad schools out of state so that should the opportunity arise, we will hopefully end up in the same city doing school and being awesome together. with sam, of course. anyone have any GRE study materials/books they could lend me??

i'm sure that's enough of an update for now...at least to appease colin who recently admonished me for my dry spell, no?

and the moral of the story is...

...even if you really like jason statham, or just like looking at him, you should stop watching the transporter movies after the first one. or if you really have to, after transporter 2.

do not watch transporter 3.

you're welcome.

YAr!

let's see...

i had my first-ever filling at the dentist this week. not painful, but totally uncomfortable and scary. then, later that day, my strep throat came back, which lead to a super awesome shot in the bum that almost made me pass out (i was told by the nurse that if i got it in the arm, my arm would fall off. nice). no oral anti-biotics for me this time, ha...

now, i'm pretty sure that my first-ever filling has partially fallen out.
i sure hope there won't be any more drilling of my tooth...arg!

well, anyway...i heard from joe yesterday! he's totally cool; has a mattress for his bed and lots of food and everything over there. he's worried he'll be bored--i can't tell you how much that makes me smile. YAr to you too, my dear pirate-brother :)
